"We've been renting from him for over a year now, and at first everything was fine, albeit a bit slow. Sometimes we were waiting a half hour or more to be let in to our unit. But we moved out of province, face financial dificulties for several months, and did our best to get caught up with our bill, and when we did get caught up on our bill and were able to make a trip to empty our unit, we were told that no one would be around to open the facility for us. His website and the side of his building say, "24 hour access." Well, it certainly isn't 24 hour access. We had to wait until the next weekend, at which point we were given a time limit by this business owner. An unreasonable time limit, considering we packed our entire 2 bedroom townhouse in there. And when we got there? There was a lock on the door handle of our unit, that the owner had to remove himself, even though we were NOT late with the current payment. And now, our unit is emptied and we're waiting for our $100 deposit back, having paid our last month's rent in full, with receipt, bank statement and his own website's payment portal as proof that there's nothing owing, and he won't return our deposit "until the payment lands in his account," implying, not so subtly, that, even though we paid using card directly through his website's payment portal, that his bank has not received the payment and we must be lying or our bank is the problem (EDIT: The day after Thanksgiving Monday, his bank deposited the payment and he e-transfered us back the $100 initial deposit). That deposit was how we planned to pay the young man who helped us, because with the gas prices, our bank account is now empty since arriving home in a different province."
